CES Visiting Program

Throughout the year, CES hosts accomplished economists from universities across the world.

The main purpose of the CES visiting program is to initiate and foster collaboration and joint projects of visiting scholars with faculty members, especially junior faculty.

CES is located in the heart of downtown Munich, near the beautiful English Garden city park. As a CES visitor you will be generally provided accommodation. Depending on the length of your visit, you will be either accommodated in an apartment at the university’s guesthouse (IBZ) or a hotel. CES also covers your travel expenses. You will also have an office at CES.

CES visitors typically stay for 2-8 weeks. While at CES, visitors are free to pursue their own research and can attend seminars at CES and the economics department. They may also be requested to hold a graduate lecture course, or talk about their own research at one of the departmental seminars.

For a formal application to the CES visiting program, please provide us with the following information:

  • Name of one faculty member endorsing your visit. For a full list of all junior and senior faculty members, please visit: List of faculty members
  • Motivation and proposed research for your stay (maximum one page)
  • Current copy of your CV

Please note:

  • All invitations to the CES visiting program have to be approved of by the CES program directors. The meetings take place only during the term.
  • There is a limit of four years before a repeated CES visit is possible.
